Description: It took a little bit longer than I thought, but here we are. The outside of Casita is roughly done. We finally added Palma de Ceras in the front and the back of the house. We added Guadua bamboo trees on the back. There are mountains on the back along with the fog and some low lying clouds. We also added some wild grasses on the lawn. There is also a stone road leading up to the front gate. I think the house looks good enough to be used in the stories. We still have a lot of things we need to do like the entire inside of the house. But I said the inside is not the goal of this phase of the project. We will get that done before we start the Encanto series. But for now, I just want Mirabel and her family to attend the Royal Wedding and get them integrated into our doll's world. So we need some kind of an excuse to get them invited and make them friends with other characters. This was a bit of an unusual project in that I usually download some pictures for the backgrounds, not try to build them from scratch. But I thought this house is so special that I should really make it. I knew it was going to take a lot of time. We are still not completely done with this house, so it just goes to show how much effort it takes to make these houses. For now, we are going to substitute random pictures for the rooms inside until we make them ourselves. I think before we get into more detailed stuffs, we need to make the 3D butterflies, because I get the feeling I will be using those butterflies a lot as a special effect in my videos. So that is what I will probably do next and then we will pick up the stories where we left off. So I started out with modeling the palm trees. I think this is Palma de Cera. Isabela sings about this tree. They are also called Wax Palm trees. They are very iconic trees in Colombia. They seem to appear often in photos that depict Colombia. I used Blender's Particle System to automatically generate lots of palm tree leaves on a slightly bent branch. And then copied and pasted in random rotations and bunched them up until they kind of looked like a palm tree. The tree trunk is made from an elongated cylinder. It is slightly bent in various places, so they look natural. I covered it up with a palm tree bark texture. I planted four palm trees on the front of the house and eight palm trees on the back of the house. Next, there is a row of trees on the back of the house that look like tall grasses. So I looked around the Internet for tall grasses and I came across Guadua Bamboo trees. They were used to make houses in Colombia as well as other South American countries. So I got a picture of a bamboo leaf and used the Particle System to automatically generate lots of bamboo leaves. For the bamboo sheath, I created a very thin and long cylinder and covered it up with a bamboo image texture. I bent the sheath a little bit, so the bamboo looks like it is leaning either from the weight of its leaves or from the blowing wind. Next, I made the mountains on the back. I created seven huge hills. I again used Blender's Particle System to automatically cover up the mountains with tree images. It looks too much like a copy and paste work with every tree looking exactly alike so I added some phase and scale randomness. Of course we don't live in complete vacuum, so we need to add some atmosphere. I created a large bounding box around the mountains and added a Volumetric Scatter shader with the density of 0.1. By doing so, the mountains look foggy and also the trees look blurry, kind of like in the real world. I also added some low lying clouds in between the hills. Finally, I added a road. I used an image texture of pebbles. I made it bumpy. Next, I used the particle system to add some wild grasses on the lawn. Thanks for watching and for following this long project.
